A vision for the future

We have explored the case for change, and sought inspiration from how schools around the world are transforming teaching and learning. Based on what we have discovered, what is Bermuda’s own vision for learning?

Real, lasting transformation is owned not only by senior leaders and decision-makers, but by the people who are affected by change: students, parents, teachers, school leaders and the communities around them. An ambitious, invigorating vision that offers a direction for the future of education in Bermuda is critical to making sure everyone feels that sense of ownership.

A vision for learning in Bermuda should make explicit the high aspirations we have for all students, and that schools should be future-focused in order to support students to reach these aspirations. A powerful vision should also bring to life the values that are important to Bermudians, so that education is unique and authentic to the vibrant culture and traditions of the country.

Bermuda’s vision for learning has so far been developed with a range of stakeholders within and beyond education. It is a living, breathing document that will develop over time as more Bermudians engage with it and consider the skills, capabilities, dispositions and values they believe young people need now and into the future.
