About Signature Learning Programmes
What is a ‘signature learning programme’?
Signature Learning Programmes are based on sectors of the economy and give students the chance to develop industry-connected capabilities alongside their academic studies. For each signature, there will be a learning programme, a range of learning opportunities, that enables students to develop the skills, knowledge and relationships to:
follow their passions
build on their talents
achieve their career and further education aspirations.
Signature learning opportunities include:
modules on relevant academic subjects
appropriate practical skills training
individual and group projects focused on real world issues and challenges
authentic, real world learning experiences
effective guidance on careers and further education
relevant accreditation
….. all developed in line with Bermuda’s vision for learning.
Bermuda Public School’s Signature Learning Programmes
After collaboration with hundreds of educators, parents, young people, community members and business leaders, Bermuda's Signature Learning Programmes (SLPs) were chosen. The selection was based on the needs of and future goals for Bermuda’s communities and economy. The first four SLPs were introduced at The Berkeley Institute and CedarBridge Academy in September 2025. The next two SLPs will be introduced in September 2025 at Sandys Secondary Middle School with the final two scheduled to be housed at the site of the former Clearwater Middle School.
The full list of SLPs for Bermuda’s schools that have been identified through research and Government consultation with the community are:

Signature Learning Programmes in Practice
Example: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)
Each Signature Learning Programme (SLP) is designed with the intended student outcomes in mind: the characteristics, strengths and core knowledge that the programme intends to develop over its course.
SLPs contain a number of learning strands which create pathways for students based on their interests, talents and career aspirations. Here you can see the five strands contained within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths signature learning programme, and the areas of exploration each contain. These include projects, real-world community and industry experiences and entrepreneurial challenges.
